Pottery Painting

Pick a cup. Paint it. We fire it.

Pottery painting in Singapore, without the wheel and without the clay. Choose a ready-made ceramic piece, paint it however you like with our paints and brushes, and we fire it properly so the colours set for good. Your finished piece is ready to collect in [X days].

No experience needed — most people who sit down with us have never held a ceramic brush before. Kids from four, adults, couples, whole families. Coffee from our in-house cafe is two steps away.

Hands-on creativity

A pottery painting studio built for beginners

Our team shows you how to load a brush, layer colour, blend two shades and fix a wobbly line before it dries. You choose the piece, you choose the design, and we stay close enough to help without taking over.

Come alone for a quiet hour, bring a partner, or fill a table with friends. We run sessions in the studio and as a mobile setup at schools, offices and community events.

  • Guided by an instructor
  • All paints and brushes included
  • Ready-made ceramic pieces
  • Kiln-fired, not just painted
  • Kid-friendly from age four
  • Studio sessions or mobile setup

Pick your piece

Choose what you want to paint

Every session starts at the shelf. Smaller pieces suit younger children and shorter sessions; a mug or a plate gives you more room to work with.

Mini cup

Our most popular piece and the easiest first project. Small enough that a four-year-old can hold it steady, big enough to carry a real design.

Best for ages 4+ · 45–60 min

Handled mug

A proper everyday mug. The curved surface takes a little more patience, and the result is something you will actually drink from.

Best for adults and teens · 60–75 min

Small plate or dish

A flat surface is the most forgiving to paint. Clean, graphic designs look sharpest here, and children manage it comfortably.

Best for all ages · about 60 min

Our blank range changes with stock, including scalloped plates and larger round plates. WhatsApp us before you come if you have a specific piece in mind.

Simple from start to finish

How a ceramic painting session works

  1. Choose your piece

Pick a mini cup, mug or plate from the shelf. Our team will tell you which one suits the time you have and the age of the painter.

  2. Sketch your design

Pencil it straight onto the ceramic. Nervous about freehand? We keep stencils and reference ideas on every table, and pencil wipes off.

  3. Paint and decorate

Brushes, sponges and a full colour range are included. An instructor walks you through layering, blending and clean edges as you go.

  4. We fire it, you collect

Your piece goes into the kiln so the colours set permanently. We let you know when it is ready — usually [X days] after your session.

Most sessions run 45 to 90 minutes depending on the piece. Weekends fill fast, so book ahead if you are coming as a group.

Ask us when you book

All ages welcome

Who our pottery painting sessions are for

The skill floor is low by design. If you can hold a brush, you can finish a piece you are proud of.

Couples and date nights

Two pieces, one table, no phones. Pair it with art jamming if you want a longer evening.

Families with kids

Parents and children paint side by side. Younger ones get simpler pieces and more hands-on help from our team.

Friends and small groups

Book a table for four to ten. Everyone paints their own piece and the conversation does the rest.

Birthday celebrations

A painted cup doubles as the party favour. See our birthday party venue packages.

Corporate and team bonding

A calm, non-competitive activity for mixed-ability teams. We have hosted SAF, NUHS, Maybank, STB and the Peranakan Museum.

Seniors and mixed ages

Seated, gentle on the hands and easy to pace. Grandparents and grandchildren can share one table.

Children’s pottery painting at Art Journey

Children’s pottery painting is one of the easiest ways to keep a child focused for an hour. Kids aged four and up choose their own mini cup, mug or small plate, and our instructors manage the mess so parents do not have to. Younger children get thicker brushes, simpler shapes and more guidance. If your child wants a structured, taught programme rather than a one-off session, look at our kids art workshops for ages 4 to 12.

What our painters say

Painted a cup with my daughter on a Sunday. When we collected it she carried it home like it was made of glass.

Clara Lim

I cannot draw at all. The instructor showed me how to blend two colours and my plate actually looks good.

Aisha Rahman

Came for a date night and stayed for coffee after. Much better than another dinner and a movie.

David Tan

Booked a table for six friends. Everyone painted something completely different and nobody wanted to leave.

Meera Das

My son picked a mini cup and concentrated for a full hour. That has never happened before.

Jason Low

Quiet, well-lit and relaxed. I went alone on a weekday and it was the calmest hour of my month.

Nurul Hafiza

The firing makes a real difference. The colours came out much richer than they looked when I painted it.

Pottery painting in Singapore for every age and skill level

Pottery painting in Singapore has grown fast, and most of it still means sitting at a wheel with wet clay. Art Journey works differently. You start with a ready-made ceramic piece — a mini cup, a mug, a plate — so the whole session goes into the part people actually enjoy: the design. We fire every piece afterwards, which is what turns a painted cup into one you can keep for years.

Ceramics and painting go together because the surface does half the work for you. A curved cup, a flat plate and a handled mug each hold colour differently, and even a simple two-colour design looks finished on ceramic in a way it rarely does on paper. That is why beginners leave with something they actually want to keep. You do not need to know how to draw. You need an hour and a colour you like.

Why choose Art Journey for ceramic painting

Our ceramic painting sessions in Singapore are instructor-led from the first brush stroke. Someone shows you how to load the brush, how thick to lay the paint and how to keep edges clean, then leaves you to work at your own pace. Every session includes the ceramic piece, the full paint range, brushes, sponges, an apron and firing. Children from age four are welcome, and our team adjusts the piece and the guidance to suit them.

The studio sits at Plantation Plaza, 12 minutes from Jurong East MRT, with our own art cafe on site — so the person who finishes early has somewhere to sit with a coffee instead of waiting in a corridor. We host groups from two people to forty-five, and we regularly run mobile pottery painting setups at schools, offices, condos and community events across Singapore.

If you want to make a longer day of it, pair your session with art jamming, mosaic art or canvas painting in the same visit. Walk into our pottery painting studio with no plan at all and you will still leave with something worth keeping.

Pottery painting FAQ

Do I need any painting experience?

No. Every session is guided. Our instructors show you the techniques, and most first-timers finish a piece they are happy with in about an hour.

How long does a pottery painting session take?

Most sessions run 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the piece you choose. A mini cup finishes faster than a handled mug or a plate.

When can I collect my finished piece?

Your piece goes into the kiln after your session so the colours set permanently. It is usually ready to collect in [X days], and we message you as soon as it is done.

Why does the piece need to be fired?

Firing bonds the paint to the ceramic. Without it the design would scratch and wash off. It is also what makes the colours come out richer than they look while you are painting.

What age can children start pottery painting?

Children from age four can join. Younger children get simpler pieces, thicker brushes and more hands-on help from our instructors.

What ceramic pieces can I paint?

Mini cups, handled mugs, small plates and dishes, with scalloped and larger round plates depending on stock. WhatsApp us ahead if you want a specific piece.

Is everything included in the price?

Yes. The ceramic piece, all paints, brushes, sponges, aprons, instructor guidance and firing are included. You only pay extra for a second piece.

Can I book for a group or a party?

Yes. Our studio seats up to 45 indoors and 25 outdoors. For larger groups we bring a mobile pottery painting setup to your venue with no participant limit.

Do you take walk-ins?

Walk-ins are welcome when tables are free, but weekends and school holidays fill up. Booking ahead is safer, especially for groups of three or more.

Can you come to our school, office or event?

Yes. We run mobile pottery painting setups regularly at schools, offices, condos and community events. WhatsApp us with your date and group size for a quote.

Is pottery painting messy?

Much less than you would expect. We use washable paints and provide aprons. Most parents are surprised how little clean-up there is.

Can I paint a gift for someone?

Yes, and it is one of our most common bookings. Just plan around the firing time — allow [X days] before the date you need it.

Where are you located and how do I get there?

127 Plantation Crescent, #04-07 Plantation Plaza, Singapore 690127. We are 12 minutes from Jurong East MRT, a two-minute walk from bus stop 40389, with paid parking on site.

How do I book?
