A gentle, joyful path to Primary 1 readiness
5 and 6 year olds are at a remarkable threshold. Pencil grips are forming. Stories are spilling out faster than they can draw them. Following multi-step instructions is a brand-new superpower. Our preschool workshops are designed around exactly these milestones — building the school-readiness skills that matter, through art they actually look forward to.
- Brushwork before pencil work — develops the hand-eye control that smooth handwriting depends on.
- Three-step instructions — practising follow-through in a low-pressure setting.
- Show-and-tell built in — articulating ideas, expanding vocabulary.
- Process and product — children leave with finished work they're proud to talk about.
What happens in a preschool session
A 60-minute rhythm that builds focus, creativity, and confidence — in that order.
Welcome circle
A short story or theme intro to spark imagination.
~10 minGuided creating
Step-by-step making with our facilitator alongside.
~25 minFree expression
Their own twist — colour choices, details, finishing touches.
~15 minShow & tell
Each child shares their work — building confidence and vocabulary.
~10 minHow a Young Creator Season session is built
Ages 5–6 sit right in our Young Creator Season (4–7). Every monthly theme weaves together six approaches — not a single craft to pick, but a rotation that keeps each session fresh while building real skills.

Role Play
Stepping into the month's theme — a doctor, a farmer, a sea creature — before picking up a brush.

Video Presentation
A short, engaging clip that introduces the theme — the same way a kindergarten circle-time video would.

Educational Game
Matching, sorting, and pattern play that builds the same thinking skills as classroom worksheets — without feeling like one.

Object Observation
Looking closely at something real — a leaf, a shell, a toy animal — before deciding how to paint it.

Story Telling
A short story frames the theme with meaning — the same narrative hook that makes show-and-tell easy afterward.

Creative Craft
Hands-on painting and making with watercolour, acrylic, oil pastels, and clay — where the pencil-grip and brush-control work happens.
Six school-readiness skills, quietly built into every session
Parents often tell us their child seems calmer, more focused, and more chatty about their day. Here's why.
Pencil & brush grip
Tripod-grip development through size-appropriate brushes and tools.
Following instructions
Two- and three-step sequences delivered the way kindergartens deliver them.
Colour, shape, pattern
Recognition and naming, reinforced through choice and design.
Storytelling & vocabulary
Naming, describing, explaining — the language behind every show-and-tell.
Focus & patience
Sticking with a project from start to finish — a key Primary 1 muscle.
Confidence to share
Show-and-tell at the end of every session — gentle public-speaking practice.
Themes that echo K1 & K2 learning
Each month our facilitator picks a theme that mirrors what most kindergartens are exploring — so the workshop reinforces familiar ideas instead of competing with them.
