Fine-Motor Focus

Pinch, squish, stamp — playful skill-building.

Three-year-old working with chunky brushes at Art Journey Singapore

Designed for the way 3–4 year olds actually create

This is a delicate window — when little fingers are still learning to grip a brush, when squishing, smearing, and stamping is more meaningful than a finished picture, and when twenty minutes feels like a long time. Our toddler workshops embrace exactly that.

  • Attention-span aware — short, varied parts so no one tunes out.
  • Fine-motor building — chunky tools, peeling, pressing, pinching.
  • Sensory-led — textures, soft music, gentle pacing.
  • Process over product — we celebrate the doing, not just the finished piece.

A gentle first step into Young Creator Season

Our long-term Kids Art Workshop runs as Young Creator Season (ages 4–7) and Emerging Artist Season (ages 8–12), each built on six themed approaches woven into every session. Toddlers join as a standalone trial visit, with the same six approaches scaled gently for 3–4 year olds — many continue into the full Young Creator Season as they approach kindergarten age.

Toddler workshop FAQs

Common questions from parents of 3–4 year olds.

My toddler has a short attention span. Will they last the session?
Almost always, yes — because the format is built around it. Sessions are 30–45 minutes, broken into short bursts (welcome, guided, free, wrap-up), so even very young toddlers stay engaged. If your child needs a break, that's completely fine.
What if my child gets paint everywhere?
We expect it. All paints are non-toxic and washable, aprons are provided, and our tables are wipe-clean. We recommend dressing your toddler in clothes that can handle a little colour just in case.
Can I stay with my toddler during the session?
Absolutely. Many parents stay for the full session, especially on a first visit. There's no extra fee for the parent-with-toddler format.
Is there a minimum age?
Our toddler workshop is designed for 3 and 4 year olds. We can sometimes welcome confident 2.5-year-olds with a parent — please message us to chat about your child.
How big are the groups?
Toddler sessions are kept small so every child gets warm, attentive support from our facilitator. Our studio holds up to 45 indoors comfortably, but toddler groups always run much smaller.
My toddler has never done art before. Is that ok?
Wonderfully ok. Most of our toddler families are first-timers. There's nothing to prepare and no skill required — just bring your little one.
What should we wear?
Comfortable, washable clothes. Aprons are provided, but a little paint sometimes finds its way past them.
Are siblings welcome?
Yes — older siblings can join age-appropriate sessions, and we're happy to advise on the best fit. Babies in carriers are welcome to accompany you.
Do you offer a trial session?
Yes. A trial is the easiest way to see if your toddler enjoys the format — message us on WhatsApp to book.
What about allergies or sensitivities?
All materials are non-toxic and skin-safe. If your child has specific allergies (latex, certain dyes, etc.), please let us know in advance and we'll adjust the materials for the session.
