Mid-Autumn Festival Art Workshop in Singapore

Celebrate the moon, the mooncakes and the memories at Art Journey — Singapore's cosiest Mid-Autumn art studio for kids, families and adults in the West.

🏮 3 Festive Workshops 🐰 Ages 3+ 📍 Plantation Plaza, Tengah 🎁 From $9

Mid-Autumn Festival in Singapore is more than lanterns and mooncakes — it's one of the few nights a year where whole families gather, slow down and share something quiet under the moon. This year at Art Journey, we've put together three very different Mid-Autumn experiences: a bite-sized $9 kids workshop, a full Moonlit Family Fun Fest with 8 mini stations, and a trio of festive art workshops for older kids, teens and adults. Pick whichever fits your family — or come to all three.

3 Mid-Autumn Experiences to Choose From

Whether you have 60 minutes or a whole afternoon, one child or the whole extended family, there's a Mid-Autumn art activity waiting for you at our studio in Plantation Plaza.

🏮 Why Mid-Autumn Festival Deserves an Art Moment

Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) has been celebrated in Chinese communities for over 3,000 years, tracing back to moon worship in the Shang Dynasty. It falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month — when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. In Singapore, it's still one of our most loved festivals: kids parade with lanterns at HDB void decks, families reunite over mooncakes, and stories of Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit get retold year after year.

But here's what we've noticed: in a screen-heavy world, kids increasingly experience Mid-Autumn as things to eat and things to buy — not things to make. That's what our workshops are quietly trying to change. When a child sculpts their own moon rabbit, or paints their own lantern-inspired fan, the festival becomes theirs. It sticks.

If you'd like to read more about the cultural roots of the festival, the National Heritage Board's Roots.gov.sg has a lovely guide to how Singapore has celebrated Mid-Autumn across generations.

Planning Your Mid-Autumn Visit

A few practical notes to help you get the most out of your session with us.

🚗 Getting to Plantation Plaza

We're 5 minutes from Tengah MRT (opening on the Jurong Region Line), a short drive from Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang and Jurong East. Free parking is available at Plantation Plaza — plenty of lots even on weekends.

👗 What to Wear

Casual, comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little paint or clay on. We provide aprons for everyone, but water marbling and clay work can occasionally splash — dark colours are your friend.

🎂 Combine With a Birthday

If your child's birthday falls in September or October, several parents choose to combine their party with a Mid-Autumn theme — we can customise the workshop into a full birthday party package. WhatsApp us to explore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our Mid-Autumn Festival workshops in Singapore.

When is Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 in Singapore? +
Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 falls on Friday, 25 September 2026. It's celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. Most Singapore families gather the weekend before or after — which is exactly why we've spread our workshops from 20 to 27 September so you can pick a date that works.
Which workshop is best for young kids under 6? +
For children ages 3–7, we recommend either the $9 Moonlit Mini Lacquer Fan Workshop (quick, engaging, sensory-friendly) or the Family Fun Fest where kids move between shorter stations rather than sitting through one long project. The 2-hour Moonlit Art Workshop options are better suited to ages 8 and up.
Do parents need to stay during the workshop? +
For the standalone kids workshops, parents are welcome to drop off (we're inside Plantation Plaza, so you can browse the mall or grab a coffee) or stay and watch — no pressure either way. For the Family Fun Fest, the ticket is designed as 1 child + 1 adult, so at least one parent participates alongside.
Can adults or seniors join the Mid-Autumn workshops? +
Absolutely — in fact, our Moonlit Bunny Clay Art, Osmanthus Moon Texture Art and Golden Moon Rabbit Foil Art sessions are quite popular with adults, couples on date nights and small friend groups looking for a meaningful festive activity. Grandparents are especially welcome; the pace is relaxed and no prior art experience is needed.
What's included in the workshop fee? +
Every workshop fee covers all art materials, aprons, guided instruction from our studio artists, and the finished artwork to take home. There are no hidden material top-ups. The $9 Mini Lacquer Fan Workshop also includes a mystery Mid-Autumn gift.
How do I become an Art Journey Member for the free Family Fun Fest? +
Members get free entry to Family Fun Fest sessions plus access to member-only crafts like the Rabbit God Keychain. Just WhatsApp us at 8666 1390 and we'll walk you through membership options — most families activate theirs on their first visit.
Can we book a private Mid-Autumn session for our family or corporate group? +
Yes — we regularly host private Mid-Autumn sessions for extended families, MNC corporate teams, tuition centres and community groups. Minimum group size is usually 8 pax. WhatsApp 8666 1390 with your group size and preferred date to get a custom quote.
Is Art Journey easy to reach from other parts of Singapore? +
We're located in Plantation Plaza in Tengah — well-connected by car from Bukit Batok, Jurong, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang and even the CBD (about 25 minutes off-peak). Once the Jurong Region Line opens, Tengah MRT will make us even more accessible. Free parking is available at the mall.

Save Your Mid-Autumn Slot Before They Fill

Every year, our September calendar fills up 2–3 weeks before Mid-Autumn Festival. Book early to lock in your preferred date and time — especially for the Family Fun Fest, which is capped by session.
